Anti-disaster guidebook published in 9 languages

KOBE, Japan - Copies of a disaster prevention guidebook for parents and children published in nine languages by the nonprofit Hyogo International Association are shown to the press in Kobe, Hyogo Prefecture, western Japan, on Oct. 15, 2014. The publication precedes the 20th anniversary next January of the 1995 Great Hanshin Earthquake that hit the western Japan region, including the prefecture which has a population of some 100,000 foreign residents.

JAL to discontinue popular calendar due to economic slump

NARITA, Japan - Photo shows Japan Airlines' popular calendars featuring photographs of cabin attendants. JAL plans to discontinue its 20-year-long production of the calendars, company sources said Jan. 31. Around 100,000 copies were printed in 1993, when they were in peak demand, but demand has since fallen gradually to around 50,000 for the 2009 version.

Police believe the bag, dark green and made in South Korea, found in the living room of the house of Mikio Miyazawa in Setagaya Ward, belonged to the assailant. Police plan to display 100,000 copies of a poster featuring a man wearing the hip bag, along with a sweat shirt and running shoes, at police boxes across Japan.
